If you live in a condo, apartment, or townhouse in Calgary and are thinking about installing an electric vehicle (EV) charger, ChargeYYC is a program worth knowing about.
Offered by the City of Calgary, ChargeYYC supports residents of multi-residential buildings by reducing the cost and complexity of planning EV charging projects. It’s part of the City’s broader commitment to low-carbon transportation and climate goals.
What Does ChargeYYC Offer?
Building owners and property managers can apply to Phase 1 of the program to receive up to $4,000 in financial incentives. This funding is specifically for planning purposes needed to prepare for EV charger installation.
Future phases of the program will offer additional support for actual installation costs.
By helping with upfront planning, ChargeYYC makes it easier for more Calgarians to transition to electric vehicles—even in buildings that weren’t originally designed for it.
How Murbly Can Support Your Project
While ChargeYYC helps fund the planning, navigating that planning process is often where buildings get stuck. That’s where Murbly comes in.
Murbly is a free online tool that helps condo boards, property managers, and residents understand what’s involved in shared infrastructure projects—like EV charging. It offers step-by-step guidance, communication tips, and practical tools to help you move your project forward with clarity and less friction. This free content is a great place to start—and for many buildings, it’s enough to confidently move forward with a charging project.
When You Need More Support
For buildings that want tailored advice or technical help, Murbly also offers additional services:
Capacity Study Service
Get a clear picture of what your building’s electrical system can handle—and how many chargers it can realistically support. This study helps you plan with accuracy and strengthen your ChargeYYC application.
Turnkey Support
If you want help managing the entire planning process, Murbly’s turnkey support service offers personalized project coordination—from defining your needs to working with contractors and specialists.
Murbly and ChargeYYC are separate services, but they work well together: one provides the funding, the other helps you put it to good use.
